Damp arising internally in internal walls

South East London
This case was created by remedial works carried out between changes of tenancy. The previous tenants had an unattended to leak in the utility room and never inform the Landlord. Moved out and the floor under the lino was soaking wet, the lino was lifting and curling. So the End of Tenancy team decided to replace the floor with ceramic tiles and grout. This trapped the water in the sub- base and forced the water to seek an escape route up the walls which were absorbant soft yellow Victorian Stock bricks.

Various Companies wanted The Landlord to spend  considerable amounts of money installing external DPMs, French open drains filled with shingle etc etc.

The SUS Team identified the issue from talking with all the parties and installed a Fast Dry Dehumidifier was a number of weeks. The walls dried out and only required simple redecoration.
