Mould on Bathroom ceiling

This issue involved a persistent case of mould on the bathroom ceiling, specifically above the shower area. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the root cause lay in the loft above. The insulation in the loft had been cut short, leaving a gap near the soffit areas.

This was due to the shallow pitch of the roof, which made it difficult for the original installer to physically reach and properly insulate these hard-to-access spaces.

As a result of this gap, a cold spot had formed directly above the shower. When warm steam from the shower rose, it encountered this cold surface, leading to condensation. Over time, the consistent condensation provided ideal conditions for mould to develop.

To address the problem effectively, specialist equipment was brought in to extend the insulation fully into the eaves of the loft. By insulating the previously unprotected areas, the cold spot was eliminated, and the root cause of the condensation and mould growth was resolved. This ensured not only an immediate improvement in the bathroom environment but also a long-term solution to prevent the issue from recurring.
